A lot of Queenslanders have superannuation death and disability claims with superannuation funds that are unique to Queensland; for example, SunSuper.
Before making a disability or death benefit claim from these funds you should remember that:
Sunsuper currently have in place a TPD policy that is called TPD Assist.
TPD Assist is different to most super funds because, generally speaking, if you are successful in a claim, you are paid 1/6th of the TPD in an instalment and then have to claim again each year to be assessed as to whether you are entitled to the next TPD instalment.
Importantly, there are some exceptions to the above, such as a claimant with Multiple Sclerosis, who would (if their claim is successful) be entitled to the full lump sum rather than annual instalments.
Our success with SunSuper claims
We have had a lot of success claiming Sunsuper superannuation insurance benefits for many people.
Recently we were successful in a claim for one of our clients who suffered a serious mental illness and had tried to do his claim himself but had met significant resistance from the fund and insurer, which he found very distressing.
Once we took over the conduct of the claim, we were able to ensure that the fund and insurer paid the claim in full.
It doesn’t matter what fund you have your policy(s) with
We have significant experience across the many funds available and we’ve run and won super and insurance claims for our clients, all across Australia.
If you’re unsure if you have any insurance entitlements for injury and illness or you’ve had a TPD, income protection or any other insurance claim rejected, don’t give up. Do not just let it be.
